PDA has announced the addition of a new Interest Group, Supply Chain Management. The Interest Group Chair is Lucy Cabral, Quality Leader, Genentech and a co-leader from Europe will be identified in the future. Richard V. Levy, PhD, and Iris D. Rice will be the PDA liaisons. Suppliers of materials to biotech and pharmaceutical companies are challenged with an increasing complexity of the material supply chain and thereby having increasing difficulty in ensuring quality supply of materials and components, excipients and APIs. Control of the supply chain is being challenged by increasing sub-standard manufacturing, business, process controls and international counterfeiting practices. The Supply Chain Management Interest Group offers members the opportunity to influence the suppliers of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to develop requirements that meet the needs of the industry in the areas of material quality, continuous improvement efforts, supply chain security and supplier/customer business partnerships. The Interest Group will use existing information in PDA and industry groups to develop best practices approach for suppliers to meet customer requirements globally. To get involved with PDA's Supply Chain Management Interest Group, one must be a PDA member. Registration information is available on the PDA web site.
