Full Name: Delta DSV Steam Trap
Team: Delta Steam Systems
Status: Available in the U.S. for the first time
Debut: February, 2015
Field Position: Utility steam reticulation systems
Skill Set: Stops inefficiencies, operates properly despite varying load
Performance Stats:
• Can knock up to 20 percent off boiler fuel bill
• Can never fail “open” and pass steam
• No moving parts, no parts to fail
Regulatory Profile: Delta Steam Systems have been awarded ISO 9001:2008 quality certification
Coach’s Notes: “The DELTA trap uses this flash steam to create a back pressure inside the venturi. As the condensate is forced through the trap’s orifice by the upstream pressure, the resultant pressure drop generates flash steam. This flash steam is about 1000 times the volume of the condensate so the sudden expansion accelerates the condensate in the venturi. This sudden acceleration creates an equal and opposite force or back pressure inside the venturi, which restricts the flow of less dense steam through the orifice while allowing the denser condensate to be ejected.”
Scout’s Notes: "The Delta Steam Trap is a fit and forget type trap that allows the plant uninterrupted production and improved heat transfer. With the new Delta DSV, excessive steam loss is eliminated through the unique orifice venturi design which has no working parts and therefore requires no maintenance or spare parts and eliminates loss of production through failed steam traps. Delta Venturi Orifice Steam Traps have an expected lifespan in excess of 30 years. All Delta steam traps are constructed from stainless steel and come with a 10-year mechanical and performance guarantee."
