Zero Ground

A patented wire/cabling System Solution has been introduced by Zero Ground. According to the company, this solution reduces high frequency electrical ground “noise” to zero when used in conjunction with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) or with products containing IGBT switching power supplies.The conventional wisdom and standard practice of grounding electrical circuits to “physical earth” for safety (in accordance with the NEC), was initiated over 100 years ago. Over the past few decades, technological developments including Variable Frequency Drives and power devices utilizing IGBTs have been introduced to the market. These technological developments (VFDs, UPSs, servos and computer controlled systems) typically generate high frequency ground currents, which when grounded to “physical earth” can cause issues affecting other sensitive electrical/electronic equipment. The Zero Ground System Solution provides a more effective ground which:

• reduces high frequency ground currents to zero
• reduces motor bearing currents
• extends motor life
• reduces unplanned downtime
• increases system mean-time-between-failure (MTBF)
• directs fault currents away from hazardous locations

During the last six years, the Zero Ground System Solution has been tested extensively by many third party agencies. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Labor Mining Safety and Health Administration (MHSA) verified Zero Ground’s patent safety claims. Recent testing confirms that Zero Ground also “extends motor life.” By addressing these “noise” issues and extending motor life, Zero Ground will increase productivity and system performance by reducing unplanned downtime, thereby increasing profits. Zero Ground cables and conduits are UL Listed components and utilize standard industry fittings; they also are approved for use in Class I, Division II Hazardous applications.
