Reading the resumes of some past FDA commissioners can make anyone feel like an underachiever---consider Mark McClellan, or David Kessler, who snapped up a law degree from the University of Chicago while a medical student at Harvard Medical School and went on to make healthcare wonk history.
Dr. Kessler was recently dismissed from his post as Dean of the University of California (San Francisco) Medical School. He claims that he was dismissed after he pointed out that roughly 100 million dollars were missing from a research and administrative fund.
Dr. Kessler remains a tenured professor at the school. He has earned the title "whistleblower" from some quarters, although the school vehemently denies any wrongdoing. More on this story from Bloomberg.
