Teva Pharmaceuticals will acquire Gecko Health Innovations, a smart inhaler company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The terms of the deal were not made public.
Gecko’s flagship product is CareTRx -- a platform for chronic respiratory disease management that combines an inhaler-based sensor, a data analytics platform, and smart device app, in order to help asthma and COPD patients manage their conditions.
The buy makes Teva the second pharma company to buy its own smart inhaler company, as it follows Opko Health, who acquired Israeli smart inhaler company Inspiro Medical last year.
